August Bank Holiday - The swan song

So it's the last bank holiday weekend of the season, how did that happen? How does the summer pass so quickly? It really doesn't seem like two minutes ago when I was cutting the campsite grass for the first time this year all excited about the new season ahead.

This year we installed the new 'off grid' shower which has gone down really well and has eased the queues at the main shower block. We bought more firepits because you lot love a firepit and we can never have enough, last year I struggled to keep up with your demand for log buckets so extra buckets was another very worthwhile purchase and I am now only refilling them once a day!!

The weather has been particularly difficult this summer both on the campsite and on the farm. We went from drought and scorching sunshine and worries of running out of water to the wettest July and August I can ever remember. Now we are almost into September and it feels as though we have been cheated of a summer this year, but as I sit here waiting for campers to arrive for the final bank holiday of 2023 my mind turns to next season, what will I do differently? What needs improving or repairing? How can I improve the site for 2024? You will have to wait for my next post to hear about one big decision I have made which I hope will help give the campsite a big boost as we head into late summer and our quieter days, much enjoyed by myself and the regular campers who book september every year for a well earned bit of peaceful rest in our little patch of the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors.
